We are officially Chicagoans! Because I had the week off between Christmas and New Years, we decided that was the best time to move to the Windy City. Fortunately for us, unfortunately for the Lethander's, Tom, and Tom and Sue, we had lots of help with packing:) Movers showed up at 9am on the Monday after Christmas and loaded the truck. Since they were not going to get to Chicago until Wednesday, we stayed at our house Monday night. Thanks for feeding us Mom and Dad Roehl! Tuesday we got up and packed up our car, had lunch with Mom and Dad Roehl and said our goodbyes...I can't claim there were no tears on my end. While we are excited to start a new adventure, we will miss our family and friends. Even though we were only in our beautiful home for 2 1/2 years, we have lots of memories. We got engaged on the doorstep, some of our wedding pictures were taken there, and it's Carmella's first home. We know we will make many more memories in Chicago, but Cleveland will always be our hometown.
The drive to Chicago went smoothly and we arrived about 5pm. Luckily we had a bed here so Carmella, Dan and I ordered pizza, cuddled up and watched a movie. Well to be honest, Carmella had formula but she eyed the pizza like she was going to eat it. Our little Mellabel also gave us a great housewarming gift...she rolled over for the first time!
Our townhome is beautiful and Wednesday the movers showed up and unloaded with no issues. Dan and I got to work unpacking as we were lucky to have Dave, Christa, Cat, Will and Tommy watch Carmella during the day to allow us to get as much done as possible.
We are in and for the most part unpacked. Our new nanny has started and Carmella seems to really like Kayla! Now we just have to wait for it to feel like home! It still feels like I'm on vacation, but once we venture out and get to know the town, I'm sure we'll love it!
Hello Chicago! We're glad to meet you!
